THE LOS ANGELES COUNTY COMMISSION FOR WOMEN
IS CURRENTLY ACCEMPTING NOMINATIONS FOR THE
35TH ANNUAL WOMEN OF THE YEAR AWARDS
In celebration of Women’s History Month, the Los Angeles County Commission for Women and the Board of Supervisors will proudly honor women of the community for their exceptional work at the 35th Annual “Women of the Year” Awards and Scholarship Luncheon to be held on Monday, March 9, 2020.
Each year in celebration of Women’s History Month, the Commission recognizes up to ten (10) women who work to bring about social and economic change, promote women’s equality, serve as outstanding role models for women, work on behalf of women’s issues and demonstrate outstanding performance within their professions to further advocate women’s rights. In 2020, the Commission will commemorate Women’s History Month and the Centennial of the passage of the 19th Amendment guaranteeing women the right to vote with the theme, “Honoring the Past, As We Celebrate the Present and Look to the Future.” The 35TH Annual Women of the Year Awards Scholarship Luncheon will be held Monday, March 9, 2020 at the Millennium Biltmore Hotel, Los Angeles, 506 South Grand Avenue, Los Angeles, California 90071. Women of the Year honorees will receive recognition for their outstanding work in celebration of Women’s History Month and the accomplishments of women’s leadership and Women’s Suffrage over the last 100 years.
The Commission is currently accepting nomination of individuals whose accomplishments meet the established eligibility criteria:
- Your nominee must have volunteered (or worked outside of their professional job description) on behalf of women; advocated on behalf of women’s rights; made significant contributions to women’s equality issues, or served as a role model for women within the following categories: Education, Health, Arts/Media, Business/Labor, Law/Public Safety, and Women Veterans.
- Previous members of the Commission may be nominated for their current activities and involvement relating to advocacy for women.
- Previous recipients are not eligible for this award. (See website at http://laccw.lacounty.gov/ for past honorees).
event proceeds provide funding to promote vital outreach throughout los angeles county in fulfilling the commission’s goals of “educating, motivating and inspiring women,” as well as, to fund critical education scholarships.
